You could try the PHP Manual at php.net
However, I suggest starting by using a book for beginners, perhaps from your local library.

check out peach pit press they have goo dbeginner series books - or you can just grab something like easy php and follow a couple of articles in here and tinker
well the way i started was with PHPNuke so if you ever wanted to download them and just take a look thru the source code then its fairly easy to pick up, all the n00bie books help also 🙂
