Quick Reminder Question

It seems to me there used to be a function that provided the path to a file among other useful information. Now for the life of me I cannot remember it, or locate it in the manual or function list.

example:

filename.txt

somefunction('./filename.txt');

somefunction would return the real path.

Anyone know? Maybe I am SOL.

Well, there's [man]basename[/man], [man]dirname[/man], [man]pathinfo[/man] and, um, [man]realpath[/man].

I knew it was there, but google was not being helpful with searches on ' php get file path ' etc.
