Dynamic Javascript List Box ?

Hi all!

I'm looking for some clean, well writen javascript and html code that produces something like this:

However, I would like the remove button to remove the current selected items in real time, not after pushing another button to reload the page. Also, I would like a textfield before the Add button to add entries in real time to the list box.

What I am trying to do it make a preferences for IPs to block from my PHP pages, so the listbox will have the currently blocked IPs, and then you can remove them, add to them. Then the admin submits all changes to the admin panel (writtin in php) and the changes are saved.

Hi there. This post would be best raised in a javascript forum. http://forums.devshed.com/ has a great javascript forum.

However I think some of the code from the CMS I've been writing over the past six months will do what you need.

Unfortunately I'm working in Winbloze right now, and the files in question are on my linux partition, so I can't post them right now.

Will be switching to Linux within an hour or so so check back in a while.

Below is a screenshot of the interface I've developed. It basically provides two lists, available links and published links, and allows me to easily shift menu items between the two, and order them within the published items.

Not exactly what you're looking to do, but close enough that it should be very easy for you to modify the js functions to do what you need.

Since this is a javascript post, please PM me and I'll make arrangements to get you the javascript code once I'm back in Linux mode.

Hey there. I've attached a txt file which contains the two javascript functions, add_ip and remove_ip. I've made the assumption that the selectlist will be named "ips" and the ip text box "ip".

I've tested the two functions and they work, so I'll leave the rest up to you.

Oh, and remember, for javascript you should really use a js-specific forum. Check out the one I mentioned earlier on devshed, or another pretty good one is http://www.tek-tips.com.

This isn't help. He already more than helped you by giving you the whole javascript code(on a PHP site no less!). Now you want him to just build the site to your spec, and put everything together for you. That's not "help". That's "hired work". With the exception that you aren't paying him to do your website for you

What exactly have you learned from this thread?

My thoughts exactly. I am surprised this thread got replied to. Usually the "I need a script that does this and this and this. Thanks" threads don't get replies.

I agree, this was a poorly conceived post (you should not simply ask for something to be done for you, but show that you're trying and asking for help and willing to learn) and it was posted in the wrong place.

However, I am a self-taught programmer who remembers what it was like learning the ropes, and I remember one particular programmer who would do just what I did - give me enough such that I had what I needed to accomplish my goals, but leaving enough out such that I would still be challenged myself. And I remember a few people who were nice to me when I misposted in forusm ;o)

Timmerk, that' exactly what I'm trying to do here. You say you don't know Javascript, and that's fair enough. When I moved to Vancouver in January of '99 I didn't know Javascript either.

So I guess it's time to learn.

LordShryku is right when he says if I were to do what you wanted it would be the equivalent of working for your company, but not getting paid. I've given you the tools to do exactly what you need, now the rest is up to you.

The implementation part is actually quite simple, all you need to do is figure out what event handlers you need to use, the arguments you need to pass, and where to implement them.

No one replied, which is why I kept posting here.

And I actaully did learn a lot. I didn't know any js before, or how it worked. Now I see the syntax and just finished the thing myself. Also, I learned so much, I redid the code myself, its like 6 lines now, compared to that. So it looks like I learned a shitload.
