[Resolved] GET works yet POST doesn't....

Trying to send a simple form....

When I send it as a POST the var "thefile" isn't there.... - can't get at it via $POST['thefile'] yet when I use GET - and $GET['thefile'] I can....

Any ideas ?

Don't know why but........
why do you use print function to output html?
You could close the php.
Example:

<?
//code php goes here
?>
<form name="name" action="action" method="post">

</form>
<?
//Another php code
?>

and i think it's more faster to calculate the page for php server....and you could use program like dreamweaver to change html tags...........

True - it is old code I am rehashing.... and there are definate benefits for non iterpolation of PHP, but the general look and speed of the thing are second to it working properly with register_globals off.....

As for a WYSIWYG like DW... it is a non-starter for me - something I really don't like... prefer a text based - BBEDIT / Ultraedit... something along those lines..

I have made the whole thing work with using GET though, but it is puzzling to say the least about it not working with POST...

But why not use

echo "this is a ".$var." and believe it or not - so is ".$this;

Files are not stored in $POST, they're stored in $FILES.

On the same page as the $POST, $GET, $SERVER superglobals info, notably - Predefined Variables... there it is in all its resplendant glory, $FILES...

An associative array of items uploaded to the current script via the HTTP POST method. Automatically global in any scope.

This is a 'superglobal', or automatic global, variable. This simply means that it is available in all scopes throughout a script. You don't need to do a global $_FILES; to access it within functions or methods, as you do with $HTTP_POST_FILES.

$HTTP_POST_FILES contains the same information, but is not an autoglobal.

If the register_globals directive is set, then these variables will also be made available in the global scope of the script; i.e., separate from the $_FILES and $HTTP_POST_FILES arrays. For related information, see the security chapter titled Using Register Globals. These individual globals are not autoglobals.
