executing a script when leaving a page

hi!

I'm creating a counterscript which will log whenever someone enters a page. When you open a page it will insert a record into a table of a MySQL server.

But now I also want to enter a record when someone leaves that page. I have created a function which will enter that record, but I can't find out how I should call that function....

Could someone help me?

yeah, I figured it would have something to do with the <body onunload> statement, but I can't figure out how I can call a PHP function that way...
