help whith ftp

Hello!

I need some help with ftp in php. I have the following problem:
I want to make a ftp connection with a ftp server and I Want my script to get a file from this server, but I need open a standard windows download dialog to receive the file, becouse this files are very big and a interface can show easier the transfer rate etc.
I tryed to use the fget function, but it didn't work all right becouse the user can not choose one directory where he wants to receive the file in his machine and becouse there are no interface ... so when we are receiving a file op 230 MB it's dificult ... I need a interface do show the transfer rate.
Here in Brazil conections aren't usually connected for very time, they can finish sudenly and without a interface it's dificult to know if the file is arriving or no ...
Do you know how Can I connect my script using a standard windows download dialog?
Yes, I know, my English is very bad! OK, but it's the best English I can use now.

is the files that less then 240 is downloading fine ?
