Do page refferer method like Yahoo?

Ok, this probably isn't a hard problem, but for some reason I can't think of how to implement this...

When somebody comes to the website, and accesses a feature
that requires them to be logged in, and they are not logged in,
it currently takes them to the signup page.

What the company wants (understandably) is for the user to be
returned to the page they were trying to view (because account
activation is immediate) so that they don't have to find their way
back...

Does anybody have any ideas? Again, I don't think that this is
very hard, but I am running with very little sleep here, and they want this today or tomorrow.... :eek:

Acquaint yourself with server variables (which provide such information as the HTTP referer), sessions (which provide a nice place to store variables across multiple pages), and the header() function.

HTTP_REFERRER is unreliable. I agree that you should store it in the session variable.

Thank you for everything! I figured out a trick that I'll share (I don't know how useful it will be for other people - and it's not that much of a trick... but here goes)

The trick is this: the page that the user is shown when they are not signed in is included - there is no redirection involved. So all I have to do is on the "you must be signed in" page, put something like this :

  $referer = "http://" . $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] . $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];

//---end snippet

Seems simple, right? It is!! I feel stupid! But hey, it's all about learning, is it not? All that needs to be done from there is passing the $referer along (I am using query strings (ie: http://hostname/page.php?referer=$refer
)
Of course you could use sessions, but I don't need all that. I use cookies anyway for login of users. Just felt like sharing.
