russian characters in htmlmimemail subject

I want to use russian characters into an e-mail subject using the htmlMimeMail class. But if i copy the russian characters into my PHP-editor its converted into ANSI resulting in ???????? instead of the russian.

Does anyone know how to use the russian characters???

What OS are you on? This should probably be in one of the OS help forums. I know if you are using WinXP it has pretty good foreign language support. Try pasting your Russian into Notepad or something that you know supports the language (ie open your PHP file in notepad and paste it in there).

I'm on Win2K but notepad will only save the russian chars as a unicode text file, PHP will not process a unicode text file. If I open the file all the PHP codes are visible and not processed...

I tried to save the russian text as a multibyte string but I didn't know if the htmlMimeMail class supported the russian in its subject-property.

Maybe try incorporating mysql?

mysql is already incorporated, when i save in mysql the chars are saved in htmlentities so that doesnt solve the problem but thanks.
