I am after a basic shopping cart for my site, i have tried many scripts of sites like hotscripts etc, but find each time they give a whole catalogue, which is hard to configure into my site. All i need is a way of adding 'buy it now' buttons to the product pages, and then a simple customizeable basket.

As i said simple is the key, as i would like to work on it my self, to improve my php knowledge, i have tried making my own, but came accross many problems.

why not try asking specific questions about the areas where you got stuck when creating your own?

ok, then if thats whats prefered. I did not meen to sound lazy by asking for a code. 🙂

Basically, my main idea to start would be:

I am only selling 7 products, so i thought of doing these steps:
1) When the user joins the site, it sets 7 sessions, one for each product, to 0.
2) When some one adds the item to the basket it increases the correct session to 1, and so on...
3) Then when it views the basket, it checks which are not set to 0, and views the corect information.

Is this a good way, or could u suggest a better one? Thanks,

I would not use sessions because what happens if you're offering more products in the future. Instead I would go with a server based one, either db or text file that stores product id and the number the person has ordered.

However this is a basic yet very common way

Store Products DB

have a basket table with the session_code, product, quanity,price.

And add a new row for each product the user adds.

no you can use a cookie instead. However he says he's having people log in so I sould relate the db or text file to their user id so when they login they can access their cart.
