Hi
I've searched the forum and elsewhere, but I don't think I'm getting the answer to my question so I'm posting here.
Is it neccessary to use the $_GET statement when using a variable passed on to a webpage as in page.php?variable=hello?
Thanks.
Search the forums or the manual for register_globals
Not neccesary, depending on config, but smart either way
Okay, I've read a bit and see that it depends on whether a certain option in php is turned on or off.
So, are you recommending that I use it? So everytime I pass a variable into a webpage, you recommend that I use $_GET? What else do you use it for?
I suggest you leave register globals off. If you say $_GET['var'], it will work with register_globals turned on or off. It you say $var, it requires register_globals to be on. So if you ever need to transfer your site somewhere else, and they have it off, a whole lotta re-coding will need to be done. Keep reading the forums. You will see there are security issues with having this on also.
Thank you. You seem to be helping me a lot. 🙂
