timecard formula

i am trying to build a timecard application for work to keep track of employees hours at 3 different locations. i am having a problem figuring out how to calculate the daily hours and weekly hours of each employee.
i have a database that contains fields for
locationid
employeeid
date
time
action(either in or out)
also employees clock out for breaks and lunches so an employee may clock in and out multiple times during the day.
let me know if you need any more information, it is a monday and my head is kinda foggy.

all the code that i have right now is the part that authenticates the user and allows them to clock in or clock out. all the user information is stored in the tcusers db and the clock in and out is stored in the tctime db. the tctime db contains these fields
locationid
employeeid
date
time
action (in or out)
i am just stuck on how to calculate the time that a user has been clocked in. i think all i need is a little nudge in the right direction and then it will click.

Well, methinks you need to write some code....

[nudge]Take a good look at php's date and time functions. You're big hurdle at the moment will be trying to corelate which time punched in goes with which time punched out. But that can fairly easily be done in your ORDER BY statement when you pull the data. But what happens when someone misses a punch?[/nudge]
