Need your suggestion

Im making a shopping cart site and each Category has it's own directory like..

shop/Snowmobile/
shop/Articat/

Let's say I have 25 categories.

I don't want 25 of the same index files, because I don't want to upload index.php 25 times!

So is there a way to have the index file in shop folder and have it work for anything outside of it.

Also, I need to know each categories MYSQL ID Number, before I had like

index.php

$this_id = 24;

My only bid for you is to read a bit more Mysql, and understand it!
