I need a copy of the talkd binary -- anyone know where I can get one?

Believe it or not, I'd tried that and only came up with one talk installation and that looked old and failed. Thanks for your link, but to be honest I'm not entirely sure what to do with a .deb file. Simply running it doesn't work.

Well, on that page, I see a tar.gz file... I'm assuming contains the source.
"Source Code: [dsc] [netkit-ntalk_0.17.orig.tar.gz] [netkit-ntalk_0.17-8.diff.gz]"

Just try whatever it says in the instructions, its probably along the lines of:
./configure
make
make install
