How to generate .tar.gz ?

How to compress the whole directory?

I have 5 directories and i need to gunzip this folders (using php). The should script generate tar.gz files

shell_exec has been disabled on my server... i don't have command line access...

please help... thanks in advance! 🙂

shell_exec() disabled...how about exec() or system()?

Only other ways I could think of is through ZLib or ZZipLib.

Outta curiosity....how can you not have command line access to your server?

If he is getting space from a commercial webhost. Some of them don't give shell accounts. Is that what you mean Lord?

Yeah. Why would you stay on a webhost that wouldn't give you a shell account. Seems like a bad choice to me....

I agree. Hosts that give shell accounts tend be better than ones that don't. I have a shell account on my host, I can directly access pgsql and mysql etc, install things I need to for my websites and what not. Very useful.
