gd libraray Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 20971520 bytes exhausted at (null):0

Hi all,

When using the GD library, I sometimes get this error, even with relatively small images. It occurs with a low frequency, but is rather unpleasant. I tried it on windows servers, with the same images and no errors occurs. I am using freeBSD. Could the image be corrupt?

The memory_limit in php.ini is set to 16MB or more and the server as an incredibly large CPU and RAM.
