I have installed a PHP/MySql Gallery Script called 4Images located at http://www.4homepages.de I want to Modify the script a bit to include a function to recursivly scan all of my Gallery directories and auto build my Main Catagories and sub catagories from the directory structure of my /Gallery/path on my Hard Drive/s?
Currently the script has a default setup were it recognizes only one /gallery location. And it will only allow me to "copy or move" my images from one location to this particular /Gallery location. I cannot do this. My resources will not allow me.
I have 3 hard drives that includes 160 Gigabytes each of media files, pictures, movies, zip files & rar's etc.. . They are full. I have, however, eligantly laid out a Gallery directory structure similar to the following:
HARD DRIVE E:
E:\Galleries
E:\Galleries\cars
E:\Galleries\cars\ford
E:\Galleries\cars\ford\mustangs
E:\Galleries\cars\ford\mustangs\red_stang.jpg
E:\Galleries\cars\ford\mustangs\blue_stang.jpg
HARD DRIVE F:
F:\Galleries\cars\ford\chevy
F:\Galleries\cars\ford\chevy\corvette

What I need to do is leave my Gallery Folder and all subs just the way it is and not move or copy a thing. I simply want a gallery script function that will peform a traverse or recursivly search the
location I specify along with all /sub_directories and /sub/of/subs etc. and completely build My Main Catagories and subs into a MySql Database off of my Directory Tree.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not wish to BLOB my images into the database. I only wish to record the "Links" to all Original images while "Linking" the thumbnails having a prefix of "th".
EXAMPLE:
pretty_car.jpg - Orignal Picture (120K)
pretty_car_th.jpg Thumnail (8K)
I've tried Image Folio ImageFolio.com and this gallery script does have this recursive "scan/crawl" feature, but I can not use this
script do to its limitations. The author said I could have up to 500 pics in each /sub folder after that the script starts to slow down considerably. I have at least minium 500 Megabytes of pics in each Gallery. If I have break the size down any smaller I will end up with a million subs and I don't want this. My OS is XP
Pro and tops out per directory around 1.2 Gigs, AFter that the O.S. chokes and refuses to save any more pics in that dir and more over begins to slow down a bit, thats why I limited my pictures to around 500 Megabytes per /sub_gallery. Thats roughly 6,756 pictures per gallery.
QUESTION: What would be the PHP & MySql code that I need to perfrom the directory crawl, record the directory structure , further recording all relative links to Main/Orignal Images while "linking" thumbnails_ to same named images and insert the directory tree and all other pertitent information into a MySql database?
I have been looking for months and need help from a very advanced PHP & MySql experienced programmer.
Anyone helping me acheive my goal will very much be appreciated. Please, if you do not know how to do this, please keep all other comments out of this thread. Unless you already know of code snippets or a gallery script that already has this feature or You have wrote code of your own.
