Terminating connection when sending file to browser

Hello..

I'm writing proxy-script in php which would output file it fetches. I would like it to terminate connection with browser if there was any problems downloading file from original place. Doing exit will lead browser/wget into beieving that file just ended. (i can't send content-length)

See ob_start() and ob_end_flush()
you can send appropriate headers for closing of connection etc.

though this might not be the best solution for this problem though. i am looking for possibilites for building a better solution.

ob_XXX don't quite solve this problem. I'd rather trigger some function resulting PHP segfault, but is there a way to do it correctly?

A way to detach browser from PHP output other than sending Location header would also be useful if someone would enlighten me.
