Could someone direct me to where I can learn the items like [^{a-zA-Z]@^[0-9]/} and stuff like that?

Its pretty confusing to me, I dont know what the slashes and exponents are for and stuff.

in order to get regex's to display correctly, you'll need to use the 'code' wrapper instead of the 'php' wrapper. Otherwise, it'll munge up your regex.

Post again, we'll look; I just don't want to waste my time on a regex that probably is not displaying correctly. (they're hard enough as it is 😉 )

Question. What character are you using for a delimeter? I see the forward slash being used 5 times. 😉

Food for thought...

1. Is "http://" required? Why not just spell it out, i.e. ("/http:\/\//")

2. Will the "www" be optional? (www){0,1}

/ is the delimiter. But I escaped it, it must have gotten messed up when I posted it.

That's why I asked you to use

 and not [code=php].

Take this thing in steps:  first figure out how to match one or zero "http://"s.  

Then figure out how to match the not-optional subdomain.
Then figure out how to match the domain, etc.

right now what you have is

[img]+[:/a-zA-Z]


which means one or more [img]'s and one letter out of the set of [:/a-zA-Z]

That's not what you wanted, was it?

what you want is 
[list=1]
[*]exactly one [img]
[*]zero or one [url]http://[/url]
[*]exactly one subdomain
[*]exactly one dot domain dot top_level_domain slash
[*]exactly one image address
[*]exactly one [/img]
[/list=1]

Now go to your regex tutorial and see what you come up with.  :)
