rounding off question

Hi all,
What is the best fuction to use to round the following off:

34.3 needs to round to 30 as does 38.8

...also

40.3 needs to round to 40 as does 49.9

Something like this should work...........

$myVal = 34.4;
$rounded_down = (floor($myVal/10))*10;

Can i ask another question related to the topic just discussed?

Lets say $numofpages = 54
This would mean that $numofpages >= 21
What i want to do is echo 30 40 50
Therefore, anything between 21 rounded up to 30 and 54 rounded down to 50 would be displayed as 30 40 50

I hope that makes sense.

What do you want to do with number less than 21?

Why wouldn't 21 round down to 20 like your other cases?

Numbers less than 21 i want to display as $numofpages (number of pages)
eg:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20

if the $numofpages >= 21 i want multiples of 10 there after...so if the $numofpages = 54 i would like to echo what i discussed in the last post.
Does that make sense?

Seems to me what you need to do is display pages one thru nineteen and then have links for the 20's, 30's, 40's , etc.

Will that work, or do you really want 24 to display on the 30's page?

That's correct, i'm just not certain how to achieve this.

This should do it..............

$myVal = 34.4;

if (floor($myVal) < 20) {
$page_num = floor($myVal);
} else {
$page_num = (floor($myVal/10))*10;
}
