Coupla questions from a n00b

Hello everyone I have 2 n00b questions to ask...

1. What is newline? (\n) What does it actually 'do'?

2. What is the letter 't' doing before the string '$value' in this bit of php?

// return array in alphabetical order
echo 'Sorted by Title<br/><pre>Rating  Title
';
asort($movies);
foreach ($movies as $key => $value){
echo "$key\t$value\n";
}

I got a manual and a book but I still don't understand it :S

\n is newline and it is replaced by the newline character when output. It creates a new line as the name describes. \t is tab, it works in exactly the same way as newline but is replaced with the tab character.

In simplier form, adding '\n' will keep the html output from being jumbled on one uber long line when you view source.

Also, as a n00b, I fully understand that you don't know all the rules, standards, etc. I do have one request for you: please use a more descriptive subject when adding posts.
