Frames and PHP

I have a left and right frame and when someone clicks a link from the left frame I want the information to be displayed in the right hand frame. The right hand frame is all one file, for example:

This is the left frame:
<a href="right.php?action=options" target="right">Options</a><br />
<a href="right.php?action=edit" target="right">Edit</a><br />

In the right frame whatever was clicked is displayed. Make sense? Any help is appreciated, thanks! 🙂

Should work if you're naming your frames. Otherwise, it doesn't know where target=right is.

I know that should work but I think you missed what I was getting at. The "href=right.php?action=options" -- How do I get just that bit to display? Keep in midn all of the code is in right.php but I only want the action="options" to be displayed.

It seems like your problem has less to do with how the frames work and more to do with how to handle your action request.

in right.php you need some if statements or a switch to handle what is being passed by action=

Your action is stored in $_GET['action'] so you need a conditional statement to check the value of that and then do what you need to do.

if ( $_GET['action'] == 'edit' ){
    //do something here
} else {
    //default page here
}
