Trouble installing PEAR

[PHP_apprentice]

I am having trouble installing PEAR on my machine.

I have put the PEAR file in my PHP directory and then added the include_path in my php.ini file. I still can;t get any PEAR scripts to function.

I am frustrated any help is appreciated
