hello I've made a mail script to mail frommy site because sendmail is disabled. the script conencts to the recipients mx server.
It runs great, but there is a problem: when mailing to hotmail addresses it always gives: fsockopen(): unable to connect to mx1.hotmail.com and depending on timeout time the same for mx2 and 3.
Can anybody help me with this?
weird indeed - I don't succeed in connecting to it via telnet (on port 25, which usually works fine) either...
Hey,
I've been told that there are a lot of restrictions with hotmail. There has been problems with them in the past. My quick, easy answer to your problem, is that I don't think you will be able to accomplish this.
Sorry,
hmm - don't think it is possible to restrict sending mails to hotmail. If you can pretend to be sendmail on a server (which usually works by connecting to the receiving server via telnet to port 25), you will be able to deliver mail on hotmail. Dunno how it would be possible to restrict that.
well that's the strange part: the mx servers DO exist, my script gets that information of getmxrr()
So when i send a mail the usual way, my isp has to connect the same way, hasn't he?
Are there other (public) mailservers for hotmail maybe?
it's very weird indeed - I have no clue how this is possible. I can perfectly send a mail from the command line to hotmail, I can see the used mailserver (mx1) but telnet to that server on port 25 does not work ... no clue
