need help displaying part of a paragraph

Hi,

I have a database field named $row["listDesc"] which contains several paragraphs of information. I want to however, display only the first paragraph, or first so many words, followed by a link to the complete contents of the field. It gives the reader a taste of what they will see if they click the link.

Example:
Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla... [more]

Could you please tell me how to best code something like this.

Use str_word_count to count the words, then display the number you want to....
