Php problem

Hey guys,
I a programmer new to php and need some help.

The coding itself looks quite easy, but I'm having great difficulty getting php up and running.

I'm running a linux machine with apache and mysql, and php4.

I wrote a test php file including the phpinfo(); line, but when I point the browser to it, only the html is displayed.

mysql and apache seem to be running fine,

Any advice greatly appreciated 🙂

Only the html?
On the page, put nothing but

<? phpinfo(); ?>

If that does nothing, that probably means that php isn't build into the httpd.conf
