background-color covering up image

Ok. It's hard to explain.

That middle section, where the dates are. There is supposed to be a random picture there. Strangely enough, though, whenever that div has a background-color attribute that ISN'T transparent, the color covers up the image, but only when the images has an align or float attribute associated with it.

But I'd like the text to go around it the way it does.

What's going on?

I've tried this on a test file (nothing but a div that has a black background and an image with align=left and text and it works.

any ideas?

i've just looked at the source of that page, and the only image in the code is http://robertseaton.com/vampia/pics/7.jpg - which is showing fine. Can you post some code, show us where it should be?

The image goes in that big black spot. I've figured out the problem, but it's kinda stilly.

And It's a css problem not a php one.

For some reason, if you just have one div and you put some text and an image that is aligned left inside it, it shows up fine, the text flows around the image naturally. But if you put the image aligned left and the text in a div inside of the previous div (which has relative coords) it screws it up and covers the picture up with whatever background I gave the second div.

I'm going to totally change the site anyway, so it's no big deal.
