rename a image wich is uploaded

I have searched on this forum but nowhere I can find a solution.

I have webform in php.
On that form I have these things,
a textbox,
a filebrowser and
a submitbutton.

What does it already do?
==> It uploads the file to the place where I want.

What do I want it to do?
==> In the textbox I type a name like: testing
Then I browse for a imagefile and then click on submit.
What it has to do nex is that the filename of the image is testing.jpg. The name I have filled in the textbox.

I have looked everywhere but can't find the full solution.
I'm a newb

I know That you can do it with move_uploaded_file()
But where to put it in my code I don't know? and what parameters to give it also I don't know.

I hope some of you guys know what I have to do and how?

javascript is good for manipulation of form data within the browser window but has no control over anything on the server side of things

rename will help you out when dealing wth stuff already uploaded to the server php.net/remane

looking at your code

$res=copy($HTTP_POST_FILES['userfile']['tmp_name'],$path.
$HTTP_POST_FILES['userfile']['name']);

if you change $HTTP_POST_FILES['userfile']['name'] to $NewFilename, that's the bit that copies the image from the servers temp directory to where you specify.

there's a couple of things to be going on with, am sure someone else here will either back me up, correct me if i'm wrong or offer an answer i've not thought of 😉

well I have changed the second part of copy from $_http_post_files to $NewFilename

but then I get this error:
Warning: copy(images/) [function.copy]: failed to create stream: Is a directory in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/theresident.nl/httpdocs/mistercash/imageuploadtest2.php on line 27
upload failed!

What does this mean?

without emulating this on my box i'm not going to be able to know for sure, what i'd do if that fails is go back to the way it was and use rename to change the name of the file once it's been uploaded.

The original name of the file on the client machine.

$_FILES['userfile']['type']
The mime type of the file, if the browser provided this information. An example would be "image/gif".

$_FILES['userfile']['size']
The size, in bytes, of the uploaded file.

If the $_FILES doesn't work then keep with the $HTTP_POST_FILES - dependant on your PHP version...

I have tried it but it seems that the image isn't copied from the tmp map to my map moviecovers because there isn't a file in that map and when I try 2times the same it says file already exists.
I have tried to change $files to $HTTP_POST_FILES, and the tried 2times but still give the same file already exists.

So what could be the problem?
