[Resolved] Related Items PHP sql

Hello,

I'd like to build a "related items" section into my 'product detail' pages. Can anyone shed some light onto how I could do this with a sql query?

So for example:

Product Detail Page contains specific product info including that products category.

What I'd like to have next to that is a list of products which are in the same category and the same brand as the product in question.

Having some trouble - any ideas?

on the product page, if you have the variables $category and $brand, just do another sql such as

$related_sql = "SELECT * FROM products WHERE category='$category' AND brand='$brand'";

and list the products returned.

Thanks that worked great! It's listing the correct products except that it's also including the main product on the page. How could I take this away?

might want to use an if statement so it only displays either the main product or the product list?

Or just build into your SQL

SELECT * 
FROM products 
WHERE category='$category' 
AND brand='$brand'
AND product != '$mainProduct'
