"hidden" charcaters

Hi,

Is there a way I can see any "hidden/special" characters in a MySQL table.

I'm having problems updating records and I think it's because the key value in the table has something in it I can't see.

If I remove and then manually type the value directly into the table then the update works but if I leave it as it is the update fails.

I don't know if this has any bearing but I populated the table from a .csv file. One thing I do know is there are no spaces in the field but otherwise I'm at a loss.

Why not try to assign an id to whatever it is your doing. Add a column to the table with name "id" or something of the sorts, and make the column as the primary with auto-incriment values. Shouldn't have problems figuring it out from there I would think.

That won't work. I am accessing one table with the value from another.
