daily message mailer

I really enjoy this forum. One of the ways that I keep my skills current is by reading the daily postings on the forum boards.

This site used to offer a text email listing as links the subject threads for the a days worth of activity in a given forum. Below the link was a small snippet, say the first 50 words, of the text from the originating message. It was such a useful feature and I was surpised to see it removed.

I have made a few requests in the past to have this feature brought back. With each request, I receive an email back from phpbuilder saying that this is a great idea and that it will be implemented in the very near future.

Maybe it's already in place somewhere; I just don't know where to locate it. If it's not already enabled, how can I help you do this? This is such a valuable tool to me that I am more than willing to donate the time needed to get the project done. Or maybe you guys know of a site that gathers daily emails from forums such as yours and offers a daily email summary.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think it's a fantastic idea. However, this forum is hugely popular and the email would consist of hundreds of links.

Although not an email, have you looked at this. You might therefoer be able to use the RSS feeds for something.

You can't really get all new posts using the RSS feeds as too many posts are submitted each hour, I guess. For example if you grab the RSS feeds each hour and 50 new posts were submitted, you will only get 10 or 20 posts depending of the query string you provide.

But more important don't forget that the forum allows you to track new posts, check out the icons beside the forum names : New posts, No new posts... So if you decide to visit the forum everyday, it's easy to read the new posts as there are all marked as new posts.
