Hmm, wish I could remember stuff like this. I usually just write it off as being typical for the non-geek. I have seen hardware secured to the mobo with 'hot glue' ... and seen customers use the Windows "open with" dialog to open viruses that their systems (rightly) didn't recognize....
Today, for example, I got a call --- "computer's gone to heck, picture's destroyed, icons all over the place" --- so I drove 28 miles, spent an hour out of the office, for a fifteen minute service call, during which I set the video settings to 800x600 high color, and for fun, did a cursory inspection of the system registry hoping to find a virus, and actually spent most of the time telling them that there was no way they'd known me when I was 10 years old.
They weren't a "regular customer", so they paid on the spot instead of being billed. Having left, check in hand, I realized I had overcharged them by 300% since I did the math in my head instead of entering them in the billing system...
I think I'll just keep that check.... Sorry I've got no good stories..... 🙁
