PHP and MySQL Database Error

Ok, here is the problem. I am setting up a user database using MySQL as a newbie. I use ezdb now and it just isn't fast enough to do what I want to do. So I am setting up this MySQL thing and tryinh it for the first time. I set up a Windows Apache, PHP, Perl, Mail Server, and MySQL server on my machine. When I try the page in my test server it works great but when I upload to my WWW server I get:

Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/thecaval/public_html/register.php on line 41

Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/thecaval/public_html/register.php on line 42

Here is line 41 and 42:

Line41 mysql_select_db($database_thecaval_lyrics, $thecaval_lyrics);

Line42 $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $thecaval_lyrics) or die(mysql_error());

Why is this not working when my hosting service is running a newer version of MySQL?

by your thread,I guess

// hostname or ip of server
$servername='192.168.0.1'; //or localhost

// username and password to log onto db server

$dbusername='root';
$dbpassword='';

$database_thecaval_lyrics=mysql_connect($servername,$dbusername,$dbpassword) or die("cant connect to mysql server");

when you upload your scripts to internet,you should change $servername's value^_
