redirect to previous page

if i have a link that goes to a different page to submit a change, how can i redirect back to the previous page?

i would use that to redirect but i need to either use it as a form to hold the info on the last page viewed..

ive decieded just to stick it in the url so for the links that i need i just added

&prevpage=$REQUEST_URI

then on the next page ill just do a simple:
