Win 2000 Server DNS

Anybody here familiar with DNS on Win 2000 Adv Server?
I just installed it today, and since I have a "special" setup of my router, I ahd to disable its DHCP server and give the server a static ip. Now I used the windows admin tool to setup the dns server, and I also added a forward record for a domain and pointed the domain at the machines through a nameserver which has the ip of the machine. But I am really not sure if I set up dns right. Can somebody give me some tips or some links? Thanks!

I have a Win2k Adv Server on a box
that is connected to a router who has DHCP(which I disabled) There are 2
computers connected to the router including the server. Each one now
has a static (private)ip and each can access the internet without any
problems. But now I have a problem with getting the DNS server to work. I
went to the GUI DNS configuator and I set up the dns server by
right-clicking on the machine name and selecting "Configure Server" now I also
added forward zones for one of my domains, but I think I left something
out 🙁
All I ahd to give windows was the domain name and they took care of the
rest, I dont need to give them my ISPs dns addresses or the server
"private" ip or any kind of ips or info. other then the domain name?
