favorite window manager

just curious to see what kind of window managers you linux guys use..

i love the *box's (fluxbox,blackbox,openbox...) now because im on the laptop and need all the space i can get, and i just think it kicks ass.

i also use gnome/kde once in a blue moon just for fun

so what are some of your favorite/most hated window manager and why?

oh, just thought of this: which terminal/shell do you guys use?

I've used em all, and seem to switch off every couple of months. Right now I'm using KDE3.1. Super Karamba is a must. Desktop customization to the max. Completely re-wrote my taskbar to be a little more eye candy(Java OSX like exploding on Mouse over). Might stick with this one a bit longer. KDE seems to be coming out with some really cool stuff

while i do love KDE, i find the simplicity of WindowMaker amazing..... it's just perfect for me. 🙂

can't post a shot cause my 'net doesn't work in linux..... but that's another story 🙂

WM is probably my second favorite. I used that for a really long time, and was one of those guys touting it's ability. It really is a highly customizable enviroment. Plus the whole "break-away" click menus are really, really cool 😃

yeah the breakaway menus are a bonus, but the *box has all the cool stuff from windowmaker.. i guess im just a huge dock-app fan 🙂

Flux/blackbox is nice, basic, lightweight, configurable. Wanna try it out on a slow box sometime (lots of AT junk in the closet y'know?) Tried Enlightenment, but decided rather quickly to bite the bullet and go to Gnome2. Decided to bump up from 128 to 196 MB RAM pretty quick after that (soon as I could find a compatible chip .... need to buy a big one, actually. But I'm not complaining. I'm finding it pretty nice.

Saw a kewl screenshot of a guy running Metacity WM and Xfce4 DM, and can't wait to try that one next.

For some reason, I'm not the least bit interested in KDE, though ....

Depends on the system I'm on.

On my main workstation, I run Gnome 2.4 or XFCE4, and rarely KDE. (KDE's just too "cluttered" for me.)

On my work laptop, Gnome 2.4

On my PVR, I run fluxbox.

On my "home" laptop.... Aqua (OS X Jaguar)

On my servers... nothing. 🙂

Also... I'm suprised nobody's mentioned Waimea (including myself). Tis a spiff-tronic setup, imho.
