W2k, mysql, IIS6, php and phpmyadmin

I curently have a W2K server running IIS6 with the latest mysql and php and phpmyadmin installed. I am trying to use phpmyadmin and I am having difficulty connecting to the W2K server's mysql with the correct permissions.

I have the phpmyadmin config file setup to connect to two other servers running mysql, one on Madrake 9.1 and the other running an old E-Smith version. When I connect with phpmyadmin, I have all the correct permissions on the linux boxes but no matter what user I log in with through phpmyadmin I can only see the "test" db on mysql and do not permissions to create any databases. I am using HTTP authentication for phpmyadmin and have played around with several users trying to get the correct permission, including Administrator and root, both these users have full permissions on mysql.

I did find one post somewhere that suggested installing the 3.51 ODBC drivers. That didn't work, any suggestions?

Use mysql 3.23.54 and all your problems are in the past

The problem was a permissions issue with the Root user. However I still cannot log in using the http method, it will only connect with the user and password hard coded in. This is not a very secure method. I used IIS6 to secure the site. In the mean time I found a Windows based program, DBManager, that has a better interface to it and is much more comfortable for my Windows users to use.

i installed my system some weeks before and i spent a lot of time. Of course it's possible to solve with good knowledge of mysql. The only thing where i need this configuration is my local testing server.

Before you confuse or smash your PC, remember my words about the installed version!
