Pagination a large amount of pages

I have got the pagenation consept down BUT I was wondering what and/or how I can achieve making it look better due to the fact that I have:

PREVIOUS | 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 | NEXT

BUT it does not go up to 15, at this time, it goes up to 420 so it is REALLY getting bit.

What examples and or help could one send my way as to what to do.

The easiest way I've found is to insert your pages into an array instead of printing them directly. Then you can do a quick sizeof() to determine if it is greater than 10, or whatever your cut off is. Once you know that, then you can easily manipulate your array to show only the first 10, or every 10th page (eg: 10, 20, 30), or the first 5 and last 5, etc.

or 1 5 10 "11 and higher" in others....

I always liked.... 1 2 3 4 ..... 34 35 36 37

show the first 4 or so and the last 4 or so.... with elipses in the middle

i am looking to do something like this as i have a whole list of members which i would like to put into pages of ten. but have no idea how this is done as i am new to php/mysql.

can anyone maybe assist?

Check out the script I just uploaded.. I found most of the paging systems to be too complicated for my tastes..

Lets say you are on page 10 or 50. Mine will display like this..

I'm sure you can add the Prev and Next easy enough it's just $currentpage-1 and $currentpage+1..

I attempted your thread when I had gone through 179 posts on pagination, and I couldn't get it to work. Would give me a blank page every time with no errors.
