[Resolved] Get pictures from folder in a random order

Hi,

I have some pictures in a folder. I would like to show them in my page in random order.

I would like to know how to read which files are in the folder and them open one that's picked randomily.....and I hve no clue how to do that....

You should read all the files, put them into an array and then use the shuffle and srand() function to randimze the array, thats how I would do it, Im sure there are other ways

$d = dir("/path/to/images/dir/");
$filecount = 0;
while($file = $d->read())
{
if($file != '..' && $file != '.'){
$filecount++;
}
}

$d->rewind();
$x = rand(0, $filecount - 1);
$filecount = 0;
while($file = $d->read())
{
if($file != '..' && $file != '.')
{
if($filecount == $x)
{
$rand_file = $file
break;
}
$filecount++;
}
}

echo $rand_file;

this echoes a random filename;
