Error 1054

Hi all,
I always get the same error message, although things seem to be alright..I looked up the other forum entries on that issue, didn't seem to help.

Error 1054 : Unknown column 'ABC' in 'where clause'

I have a table called company with one column called company_name.

$admin = "UPDATE company SET ". 
       "company_name = \"" . $edit2 . "\" " .
	   "WHERE company_name = " . $edit;

In this case $edit is ABC.
Can somebody help?

OK, found it out myself. stupid, but I forgot the quotes...

"company_name = \"" . $edit2 . "\" " .
	   "WHERE company_name = '$edit'";
