$_post into frames

I am sure this has been answered before, so I am sorry if it's a bind, but how to I pass a $_post['']into a frame set.

The indivisual pages work fine using

echo $_POST['student']

but when I load the page into a frameset i get the error

Notice: Undefined index: student in......

any idea's

Passing a variable into the _TOP frame of a frameset doesn't pass it on to the child frames.

You're better off doing this with JavaScript. The metholodolgy is this: in your main page that loads the frameset, a JavaScript infers and issues these variables and their values to the children forms.
