Is there A Way to change a part of the page without reloading?

Hello, I want to make a banner rotating script that changes a banner or image say every 15 seconds. I am just wanndering is there a way to get the banner to change without reloading the webpage? Just wandering sorry it this a dumb question.

Also how do you make php count seconds or wait a certain time before it executes a line of code? Thank You
