max length of session string?

Just out of curiosity, what is the max length of a string that can be stored as a session variable?

The length of string is the number of characters it contains. So max length of variable and max no. of chars is synonymous.

do you understand the concept of an infinite for loop?

that php would loop through indefinately continuosly adding 1 to the end of the session variable...

ie

1
The current length of the variable is: 1

11
the Current length of the variable is: 2

111
the current length of the variable is: 3
.....

1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
the current length of the variable is: 100

eventually you should get an error, or a point where the size stops increasing... and violla! you answered your own question....... Sorta.... :rolleyes:

yep i get that too,

you can store a max of 4kb in a cookie,
you can store around 1.3 megs on a floppy,
you can store a max of 12 wine bottles in stand that only holds 12 bottles,
you can store a max of 255 characters in an access text field,

you see where i'm going with this?

so just how much information can be stored in a session variable?

250 characters, 500, 1000?
