Hello any one who is reading this, I used to be a bit of a regular when i was creating
www.uk-graffiti.co.uk
in my placement year...
Now for my final year project, i intend to create a new website using much of the code from uk-graffiti.
To anyone interested, I will list the requirements of the system:
o 1. Image Viewing Interface:
Images must be presented to the user in an effective and efficient way. Each image must be displayed in its correct section with its relevant details; Artist Name, Area and Date (stored in the database). This option will be made public so that registration will not be necessary.
o 2. Searches, Sorts and Filters:
All images and information will be stored in an online database. This will allow the addition of searching and sorting facilities, in order for the user to group the images according to certain criteria. E.g. Date, Artist Name and Area.
o 3. User Login:
In order to create a community and manage users throughout the website, Users must register in order to gain a valid username and password. When a user becomes registered, he/she can then Upload, Leave comments, use the E-commerce facilities and chat in the Forum. Additional information will also be taken via the registration form and uploaded to the database for use in the bibliography section (requirement 4).
o 4. Artist Bibliographies:
Each registered user will be automatically added to an A-Z list of artists. Users can then search for specific names and view information and images on their chosen artists.
o 5. Upload feature:
Users will be able to browse their own drives directly from the web interface and upload their chosen images directly to the website email address for reviewing.
o 6. User Comments:
Every image displayed on the website will have appropriate textual information stored with the image in the DB, Artist Name, Date and Area.
The addition of ‘user comments’ will also be added for each image. This will allow users to comment on and discuss each others work.
o 7. Forum/Chat:
A Forum or Chat Facility will be included in order for users to create discussions and interact.
o 8. E-Commerce:
Certain merchandise will be available to registered users. Users can login, browse through merchandise and follow online steps to add his/her items to a virtual shopping basket then proceed to the checkout.
so, the question that i would like to ask is about No6, User comments....
Basically, if you look at this link
http://www.uk-graffiti.co.uk/display.php?file=http://www.uk-graffiti.co.uk/walls_berks/images/mix.jpg&pic_descrip=Bres%20-%20Thes%20-%20Enuf&pic_area=Berkshire
you will see that each image comes up in this display.php page.
I would like registeded user to be able to leave comments on each image, and then each time that image is clicked on, a list of user comments will be held below the image.
What i would like to know is...
where do i store that data? in the same table as the image, addin two fields user_name and user_comments?
If somone could explain how this could be done, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
