Null issues

I have a php script to insert the image path into MYSQL and the image into a folder. I can make it upload as many images as I want. I want to use it on a greeting card site where some card packages are bundles of 5, some are bundles of 3 and some are bundles of 4. My database is basically Imageid, Image1, Image2, Image3, Image4, Image5. My question is if I upload one package with 3 cards, will it affect the database to have nothing in Image 4 & 5?

no, the only consideration is the amount of space being wasted by redundant fields - you may be better off having two related tables, one to store the card pack details, and a linked table to store the image paths. Then you could be completely flexible with no upper limit to the number of cards in a pack.

but this size thing would only become important if you were storing the images in the database itsself. But you're not, so you can stop worrying.

One last question, I have a script that pulls the images out, but how do I pull the images when there are only 3 instead of 5. When I load the page it has broken links where the two missing

use an if statement

if(image5 == ""){
//redirect to a blank image, or just don't output one
}

then it will only echo out the images that are present
