PHP COM and Outlook

I'm looking to find a way of accessing my email from outlook using php.

I'm trying to create a desktop 'dashboard' so that when I want to browse through my emails, I don't have to view them in Outlook, but still want to use Outlook for its features.

I have tried to use COM to access the MAPI folders in Outlook but to no avail.

Has anyone had any exeprience with COM and Outlook?

Ahh yeah - this is a good article and pops up in hundreds of PHP coding sites but it doesn't work - Certainly not with Outlook XP on Windows 2000.

I've had a go and used the scripts he gave but instead of working, it caused problems with Office and Windows' Installer setups. Also, there's not an aweful lot of explination in the article about why he does what he does or what other possibilities are.

I've tried modifying the code - looked at the Outlook object from within VBA in Outlook itself and have tried to gain access to information that way, but again to no avail.

In being more specific - in his article, the failure starts where he logs on to the mapi session...

Not particularly Helpful, I can' read German so don't know whats wrong with it...
