Hey all-
First off I just wanna say hi and that I hope to spend more time here when I need help in the future.
Anway. Here's the quick story: A month ago I opened a geocities.com pro website (9.00 a month). Besides the fact that I got ripped off, I am only using about 2% of my bandwidth  I decided that I can just run a server out of my house (i have a high speed cable modem, avg 65 kbs upload speed).
So I've been working for quite some time on this one problem that is so simple, but i just can't resovle it. Here's the setup first: windows xp home + abyss web server + php4. OK so the problem is that when I try to run most php scripts, they won't work. The reason is that the variable/data folder is read-only (i think). I know that if I was using a *nix server that I could just chmod it to 777. the current "chmod" is 677 or 667.
Well I THINK this is the problem. I'm not on the server so I can't show the errors that I get... so I'm just going to assume this is the main reason why things don't work.
So can somebody PLEASE tell me how I can go about making the folders NOT read-only?
I know that php is running correctly b/c i got a simple counter to work. abyss web server functions just fine with it. Please tell me if you need anymore information to help with my problem. Thanks in advance!
