Windows server 2003 WE and mssql

Ok, Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. I need mssql support. I keep getting an error loading the extension. Other extensions load fine but mssql will not.

Warning

Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\PHP\extensions\php_mssql.dll' - The specified module could not be found.

I figured something might be missing so I tried to install the client access tools from SQL Server but I can't cause it's Web Edition...

Any ideas?

What files are required on the system for mssql support to function?

Windows sometimes has a hard time finding DLLs. Try moving php_mssql.dll into the same directory as php.exe itself.

I figured it out.

The ntwdblib.dll needed to be copied to the system32 directory... after that the extension would load but I could not connect to any MSSQL servers.

I compared the versions of NTWDBLIB.DLL on my new server and an existing (working) server. the one that ships with PHP is older. I replaced the file with the newer version and everything works fine.

php's version of ntwdblib --> 2000.2.8.0
my version of ntwdblib --> 2000.80.194.0

I have done exactly what you did. I found the 2000.80.194.0 file on my sql server and copied it to the system32 directory on my web server.

I still get the undefined function mssql_connect() error. I use phpinfo() and no mention of mssql.

I am desparate. Please help!

Installation

The MSSQL extension is enabled by adding extension=php_mssql.dll to php.ini.
