Simple problem, frustrated coder

Here is my problem. I have a form where I enter news items related to cars. (newsid, headline, body, date). After submitting the form, I would like to go to a new page that lets me associate the news item with one or more cars.

How do I get the newsid into that next form? The newsid is the primary key for the news items and since it is automatically incremented, how do I grab that info for the next form?

Your help here is much appreicated. I'm still trying to learn...

$last_id=mysql_insert_id();

now you can display the form for associating the newsid

Check it out ... gets you the value of the last auto_incremented column... is "newsid" an auto_increment column?
