Variable(s) within SQL Queries

MY variable ID is getting across, however the query blows out each and every time regardless of how I quote (or not quote) it.

$result = mysql_query ('SELECT * FROM webprogress WHERE id=$id');

Would like a quick fix, and a resource that covers this specific issue if possible.

I don't know what "blows out" means.

Try this and see what mysql says is the problem (I suspect you don't have a connection):

$result = mysql_query ('SELECT * FROM webprogress WHERE id=$id') or die (mysql_error() );
