need a bit of help

hi

i am making a php site and some site i have looked at they have eg. content.php?p=downloads but i have tried save my pages as that and it will not let me save it. how is this done

In the case you provided the page is called content.php and the rest is data being passed to the page via GET. Do a search on google to learn about GET and POST variables and how they are accessed as it is too much to tell in a post.

i have tried to find how to use it, but its nothing to do with the thing i want to do.

anyway where it say :

content.php is that a blank page or something with the command inside it that gets the file.

?p=download what extension is the download page it gets eg. txt,php etc
